NYPD Soccer Completes TNT Tour
The New York's Finest just completed a ten day tour of Trinidad and Tobago. The team competed against a variety of teams composed of semi-professional and professional players including ex national players from Trinidad. This good will tour included teams such as National Unity, Trinidad Army, Top Cops, and Arima. Through out this tour NYPD maintained an impressive 5-1-1 record with the only loss being dealt by Trini Army.

Nov. 13, 2002: Dirk Wrede Loved Soccer

There was little doubt that Dirk Wrede couldn't get enough of soccer.

"He adored the game. He was a passionate lover of the game," police Sgt. John Huber said. "Only someone who has played the game can appreciate that. You play until you can't play or can't walk anymore."

On Sunday, Nov. 3, the popular police officer from the 114th Precinct in Queens did just that. He died on a Seaford, L.I. soccer field from apparent cardiac arrest while playing the sport he loves for the department's team, the College Point Enforcers.

The NYPD Soccer Team was founded in 1988 by Detective Rudy Blake. The team's beginnings were slow at first and eventually evolved to the current team. Over the past few years, we have been involved in various charitable organizations such as the Special Olympics, the Widows and Orphans Fund, DC Scores, Soccer United and various charities involving September 11th.

   
 

WASHINGTON DC TOURNAMENT:

Thanks to Jimmy and the rest of the men and women of the
Secret Service, Montgomery County Police Department for
hosting one of the best tournamnets in years. This was
a tournament which not only honored fallen friends but 
honored soccer through its play.
